In a meeting with the Star's editorial board, Immigration Minister Marc Miller said he is weighing removing the extra points permanent residence applications could earn through a positive labour market impact assessment(LMIA) submitted by an employer.

"There is a value to LMIA but it cannot be $70,000 on the black market or the grey market," Miller Said Wednesday, "Not prejudicing people that have bona fide LMIAs, but it is balancing act. I think it's safe to say I am seriously considering it.

Cracking down on fraud was among a wide range of topics that Miller commented on relating to the uncertainty and challenges faced by the country's immigration system, from a new border landscape under the incoming Trump administration to a growing asylum claim backlog that has reached historic levels and Canadian's cracking consensus on immigration.

Miller admitted that job-offer fraud is rampant but ability for enforcement authorities to crack down on it is limited due to other priorities.

"We need to do more,"he said, "But we also have to take the value out of the LMIA fraud."

感觉明年年IRCC还会出台更多的移民缩减政策, 去掉LMIA的50分, 对于基础分数好的同学还是会有优势的.只是有些非常想上岸的, 已经有LMIA但是目前分数还不够的同学来说, 就白白浪费钱了.
